Living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) started 30 years ago in response to the shortage of deceased donor liver grafts. Upon partial resection, the liver undergoes a complex process that involves a finely tuned network of molecular events and interaction of different cell types to ensure efficient proliferation until restoration of liver size and function. Despite the many advantages of LDTD, occasional donor morbidity and mortality still remains an issue. In this study we have analyzed the serum proteome temporal dynamics of seven healthy donors of LDTD to define a molecular map of liver regeneration.
