Overview of the EASY-ETD Option

Efficient way to fragment peptides and proteins

Electron transfer dissociation (ETD) is a gas phase dissociation technique to fragment multiply charged ions in a mass spectrometer in order to obtain structural information. The optional Thermo Scientific™ EASY-ETD™ ion source1 uses Townsend discharge ionization to generate a highly stable reagent ion flux. The source is very compact, fitting right behind the ion funnel, inside the mass spectrometer. Intelligent, automated precursor ion sorting routines, reagent filtering using the quadrupole mass filter, and charge-state-specific calibration of ETD reaction time maximize the quality of ETD spectra. ETD and EThcD HD modes are techniques on Orbitrap Fusion Lumos MS to increase detection limits and dynamic range of ETD spectra.
